Homeroom 8, the FABULOUS Class of 2013: Welcome back!

MATERIALS needed: 3-ring binder, ruled paper, pens (black ink only), pencils. Spiral notebooks are unacceptable for all classes. (5 x 8 notecards for Speech classes)
PERIOD 1: Preparation/Conference Period
PERIOD 2: (11th Grade) Research & Writing: Emphasis will be on writing during the First Semester, and on Research in the Second Semester; however, the two areas will not be totally discrete at any time.
Written literary compositions (short stories) will be analyzed for structure and literary value. Writers must read, as well as write. Techniques of writing narration, description, exposition, and persuasion will be studied and practiced.
PERIOD 4: SPEECH: Emphasis will be on writing and presenting speeches in class. Characteristics of proper public speaking will be studied. The first 2-minute speech may be read. Eventually, speeches will be given from notecards. The topic for the first speech will be: “Interesting Things about a Country”; The National Geographic magazine will provide the information for the speech.
PERIOD 5: SPEECH
PERIOD 6: SPEECH
PERIOD 7: DRAMA: Emphasis will be on performance. The first play will be presented in late September, if the school calendar allows.
